What is a "TCP/IP v2004, had an error when publishing the port numbers for the client application. Errorcode #-1" error?

This particular error may appear if you try and start StorMan Server when it is already running as a service (more on this: #HWSRSSS01). When StorMan Server is running, it uses and ties up certain ports (more on network ports: #HWSNPT01). If you try and start StorMan Server while the StorMan Server service is already running, the system will display this error because it is trying to access ports that are already in use.

Additionally, the network ports needed by StorMan Server may already be in use by another application running on your system.

How do I fix a "TCP/IP v2004, had an error when publishing the port numbers for the client application. Errorcode #-1" error?

  • Check to ensure StorMan Server is not already running as a Windows service on your computer (more on this: #HWSRSSS01)
  • Check to ensure no other applications on your system are using the ports that StorMan needs (more on network ports: #HWSNPT01)
  • Restart the DNS service on your Windows computer. To do so, click Start, Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click DNS. On the Action menu, point to All Tasks and then click Restart.

If you are still experiencing this error after trying the above solutions, please contact StorMan Support.
