Berth Types / Item Types / Unit Types / Vault Types - Tab 1: Type Setup

  1. Core window elements (around the edge):Tab 1
    • Type Code displays the code of the Berth Type / Item Type / Unit Type / Vault Type.
    • Description displays the description of the Berth Type / Item Type / Unit Type / Vault Type.
    • Previous & Next buttons are used to cycle through the records.
  2. Other window elements:Tab 1
    • Type Code is used to enter a code for this type of Berth / Unit / Vault. Most Self Storage facilities will set the Type Code as a multiplication of their Units dimensions. For example: If the Units being assigned to this Type Code are 6m by 3m, then this type would be called a type 18 (because 6 x 3 = 18).
    • Description is used to enter a descriptive identifier for the Type. For example: Level 2 Unit, or Unpowered Berth, etc.
    • Sort Order is used to set the order in which this Type will appear in various lists, reports & dropdowns throughout StorMan.
    • Berth Type category / Item Type category / Unit Type category / Vault Type category allows you to group Berths / Units / Vaults into categories. More on this type of Category: #TPCTWITC01.For example: If you run a Marina, you may like to setup Long-stay and Short-stay categories. If you run a Self Storage facility, you may like to setup categories like Wine Storage Unit, General storage Unit, Carpark - or Ground Floor Unit, First Floor Unit, etc.
    • Monthly Rate is used to specify the monthly rate for Berths / Units / Vaults that are assigned to this Type. If you alter this figure, it will only affect new Agreements (move-ins) from now onwards; it will not affect existing Agreements (they will instead show as receiving a discount).
    • Weekly Rate is used to specify the monthly rate for Berths / Units / Vaults that are assigned to this Type. By default, StorMan will divide the Monthly Rate by the number you specify in System Setup via the Monthly to Weekly Rate Conversion setting (more on this setting: #SYSSETTAB501), but you can manually adjust this if you wish.
    • Casual Daily Rate is self explanatory and works in conjunction with our Casual Daily Rate billing system (more on this: #BLPLNCDR01).
    • Deposit is used to configure the deposit amount that you wish to charge for this Type. It is automatically billed when a new Agreement is created (but can be unbilled or adjusted at the time the Agreement is configured, if necessary).
    • Show as on special lets you set whether the Type is currently on special (more on this: #UNTSPCL01).
    • The Assignments section lets you set the Billing Plan to automatically use when an Agreement is setup with a Berth / Unit / Vault of this Type (in most circumstances, you would leave this set to None & set the Billing Pan at the time of move-in instead, depending on what the Customer wants) as well as the Rental analysis code to assign to this Type. In most cases, the Rental analysis code should always be set to Rental Fee, but you want to - for example - record your wine storage income separately to your regular self storage income, then you would create a new Analysis Code (more on this: #ANLADET01) for the wine storage income & assign it to any relevant Types here, using this setting.
    • The Berth Type Statistics / Item Type Statistics / Unit Type Statistics / Vault Type Statistics section displays some statistical data about this Type.
    • The Berth Type Size / Item Type Size / Unit Type Size / Vault Type Size section is used to calculate the size category for Berth types / Item types / Unit types / Vault types (more on this: #TPCTWITC01).
    • The Length is variable and Variable Minimum Length fields are generally used in conjunction with our Marina product, as many marinas charge by the meter (of Berth space used).
    • The Online Reservations Settings section is used to set whether this Type will appear on your Online Reservations website and whether the prices are not shown. This requires the Online Reservations module (more on this: #OLSORS01).
